According to Kyodo News Agency of Japan, at about 4:45 pm on October 20, a huge fire broke out in a factory of Asahi Kasei Microelectronics Co., Ltd. ("AKM") Nobuoka Manufacturing, which is a group company of Asahi Kasei, which is engaged in semiconductor manufacturing. As firefighters had an adverse reaction when they approached the fire site, the fire extinguishing work was interrupted that day and continued on the 21st. The next day, the manufacturer in question issued an announcement stating that as of 9:30 pm on the 21st, the factory that was mainly responsible for manufacturing LSI (large scale integrated circuit) had stopped production due to a fire.

According to reports, the fire lasted for 91 hours and 40 minutes. Fortunately, the fire was discovered in a timely manner. All the more than 400 workers working in the factory at that time had been evacuated to a safe place for refuge. The fire caused no casualties! Regarding the reason why the fire has not been extinguished, the local fire department explained that during the fire fighting process on the 20th, it was discovered that when the team members were preparing to approach the fire point on the 4th floor, they were exposed to smoke and skin was irritated. Therefore, the fire extinguishing operation was temporarily suspended. However, Asahi Kasei emphasized that the burning plant is an IC manufacturing plant, and there are no hazardous materials harmful to humans.

According to reports, the fire broke out at a factory of Asahi Kasei Microelectronics Co., Ltd. Nobuoka Manufacturing Plant of Asahi Kasei Microelectronics Co., Ltd., which is engaged in semiconductors of Asahi Kasei Group. It mainly produces large scale integrated circuits. , Chips from audio, home appliances, automotive, security control and other industries have participated. The media pointed out that it is the only factory of Asahi Kasei that produces LSI, but some demand is also outsourced.

On October 21, Asahi Kasei issued a letter of apology to inform the fire situation, and pointed out in the announcement that its subsidiary company responsible for manufacturing LSI had stopped production due to the fire.

The fire this time is far more serious than the previous fires in the chip factories of Samsung, Toshiba and other companies. It took 3 days to extinguish the fire. The factory was shut down and it may take at least half a year to recover. After the fire broke out in the only factory engaged in production, Asahi Kasei Group stated that it would increase OEM production to meet market demand. The specific impact has not yet been counted, but the market inevitably has panic. Customers using Asahi Kasei chips, sensors and other products have begun to grab goods.

The chips produced by Asahi Kasei are not common processors, flash memory, memory, etc., so ordinary people should not be affected, but it is estimated that there will be a wave of price increases and shortages in certain industries. Many friends in the electronic component spot market said: Recently, they have received a lot of demand from AKM, and the demand ranges from tens of thousands to hundred of thousands.
